Welcome to the home page of Landscapes Art Gallery, the studio in which well known Dumfries artist and poet John Clark creates and displays a good variety of original paintings and high quality limited edition prints. As the name suggests John specialises in landscape views, particularly of his native South West Scotland.
The site is easy to navigate through the menu on the left. By selecting Original Art you will be able to view a gallery of contemporary art work currently or recently exhibited for sale. By selecting Limited Edition Prints you will be able to view many of the quality limited edition landscape prints available to purchase directly from this site. There is also a selection of smaller signed A5 prints. If you are a fan of Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet, you will love the sepia Burns Prints which depict buildings that hold some significance in Burns' life and death in and around Dumfries. There is also a rather charming little mouse print entitled "Wee Sleekit Cowrin Timorous Beastie". John's work is much sought after, with many of his prints finding homes all over the world. His work was used to illustrate the hugely popular hardback "Sang O The Nith" published in 1996 by Dumfries and Galloway Libraries Information and Archives. Although John's original work is shown mostly in and around the galleries of Dumfries and Galloway some of his contemporary work has been on display in the prestigious RGI Exhibition (2002 exhibition at the McLellan Galleries and others) in Glasgow. |
John is also a poet and an anthology of his poems and short stories entitled "An Experience of Drowning" was published to critical acclaim in December 2002. Click on Poetry to view and purchase his recent books.
John also undertakes Commission Work which is very reasonably priced. There is a page of Testimonials where independent views of his work are reproduced.
LandscapesGallery will be participating in the prestigious 'Spring Fling' 2008' an open studio event which runs from 24th-26th May 2008. For details of this please visit www.spring-fling.co.uk An exhibition showcasing all the participating artists will be held in Gracefield Studios between 21st March -19th April 2008. This is a must see event for anyone remotely interested in arts and crafts in the region. Leaflets and booklets will be available giving full details via Landscapes Gallery or the 'Spring Fling' website.
