Kippford is a beautiful village which plays host to many tourists in the summer months. It has a busy marina and holds an annual regatta. The walk from Kippford to Rockcliffe over the Jubilee Path is well worth the effort for the marvellous views over the Firth. The artist's great grandfather was a ships carpenter and was quite well known at the turn of the century. He too was born at Conheath the birthplace of many generations of Clarks. He was from all accounts a world traveller and quite a character. He would have been well known to all seafaring men in the area - Kippford would have been no exception
