New Abbey Village is dominated by the beautiful abbey from which it takes its name. The village itself boasts two good hotels and craft shops on the main street. A working cornmill has been restored to its former glory as you enter the village coming from Dumfries 7mls distant. The famous Shambellie Costume Museum is closeby and often displays period and modern costumes worn by Holywood stars. Well worthy of a visit.
