Situated at the highest point in Dumfries the Midsteeple is a decorative building erected at the beginning of the 18th Century. Over the years it has developed a 'list' likened to the leaning tower of Pisa. This listing has been the subject of much debate and contoversial proposals have been muted over the years on tearing it down much to the disgust of Dumfriessians. After all what would Pisa be without the leaning tower. A humouros poem by the artist's late father records his poetic views on the 'Steeple' in the book 'Sang o the Nith'.
