Rough Island is seen distantly from the shoreline near the Kippford Village. At low tide the island can be reached by causeway. The 'Jubilee Path' runs between Kippford and Rockcliffe. At its highest point the path gives stunning views over the Firth at the Mote of Mark.

It is a popular spot for tourists and locals. Many boats moor at Kippford in the Summer months and closeby is Golf and horseriding
