Caerlaverock Castle is probably one of the most famous landmarks in S.W. Scotland,featured in many TV programmes and a popular spot for the recreation of medeival battles. Its history goes way back to the time of William Wallace. The original site and founds for the castle have been restored and there are some lovely walks and nature trails in the grounds. The castle is quite an imposing sight even in present times, containing quite complex building structures in its inner sanctum.
